Digital Recording Studio

Our digital recording studio is responsible for producing audio books and magazines with an Oklahoma connection. We strive to emulate the quality level of National Library Service productions, and have had 4 publications added to the NLS Collection, including three children’s books and one magazine, all of which can be downloaded from BARD.

Our small studio staff is augmented by volunteers working on all aspects of audio production, from narration, to monitoring recording sessions, editing the recorded audio files, and reviewing the completed production.

Volunteering in our studio is ideal for those who are looking for a long-term volunteer experience, have computer skills, and are detail-oriented.

Our studio was made possible with funding from the Institute of Library and Museum Services, whose mission is to create strong libraries that connect people to information and ideas.

Be a Studio Volunteer

Volunteering at OLBPH requires a commitment to work on a project for 1-3 hours per week, spanning several months or until the project is complete.

Volunteers start by learning the process of audio editing, and once that is mastered, may train for the other positions, including reviewer or monitor, or they may audition to become a narrator. Our studio uses Adobe Audition audio production software. With training, an experienced computer-user can learn how to use this program.

If you are interested in volunteering please fill out an application and return it to the library. You may also email completed applications to Studio Manager Jill Streck

Collection Development

The Collection Development Committee is responsible for selecting titles for the Studio to produce. Gift books and suggested recordings will be evaluated according to our selection guidelines. The library has a particular interest in Oklahoma history and the works of Oklahoma authors. Our Collection Development Committee meets quarterly to make selections of new titles to produce.
